Packaging line for grass seed Plant food
Following on from a successful installation, SCOTTS Company (UK) gave RMGroup the task of further automating their bottling line for products in the Patch Magic range. RMGroup were asked to take jugs that had been filled and capped from existing plant and place into cardboard boxes of varying sizes.
RMGroup supplied a 710 Endoline case erector, which deposited cardboard boxes into the erector for the palletising system. An ABB660 robot was supplied- the first in the UK- with custom-made gripper head in order to pick up jugs in sets of six and ten to place into boxes. Since the jugs were placed tightly into cardboard boxes, our robot had to pack jugs within a 10mm tolerance, a challenge to which our programming engineers overcame. RMGroup are able to design and install bespoke systems to meet our customers requirements.
Not only did our palletising robot have to pick and place jugs into boxes, we also had to palletise bags into boxes using the same gripper head. Once product has been placed into boxes they continue down the line to a case-closer and then into the pick-up conveyor ready for palletising.
